About

Have you ever heard an older person say a Telugu expression but you couldn't understand its Artham (meaning) and Partham (use/purpose)? Well, I have.

Instead of giving them an awkward smile, maybe now you can surprise them with a few sayings of your own.

Jokes aside, I have built this website because there wasn't a single, unified platform on the internet to search, discover and understand the vast wealth of Telugu expressions, sametalu and traditional sayings.

The expressions can be searched using Telugu script, Romanized transliterations (eg: pichchuka mida brahmastramu), or even English meaning.

The transliterations ensure this platform remains accessible to younger generations who might find reading Telugu script a challenge.

On the Shoulders of Giants: The data on this website has been carefully collected and processed from various publicly available historical texts and curated collections. This project is a tribute to the dedicated scholars, collectors, and publishers who worked tirelessly over decades to document and preserve these oral expressions. Without their life's work, this project wouldn't be possible.

While the expressions are collected from historical texts, some of the English translations and meanings have been supplemented using AI.

I have done my best to process this data accurately, but a few mistakes may have slipped through. All credit for the richness and wisdom contained in this collection belongs to the original scholars, while any errors, omissions, or mistranslations are strictly my own.
